i have a bump on my nose. got it pierced. doesnt hurt. i have a sterling silver nose ring. how can it go away?
i got my nose pierced a month ago. my boyfriend pierced it with a well sanitized needle. i got a sterling silver nose ring, sterilized it, and put it in. 2 weeks ago, the bump appeared. it was huge, and red. my boyfriend described it as a blood blister. i took a needle and went to put a hole in it, so the blood can come out, and the needle pushed the skin down like there was nothing there, just blown up skin. i took the needle out, and squeezed it. blood came out. i put rubbing alcohol on it, week later it was gone. then a couple days later it came back. i did the same thing, bu this time a little puss came out. its been a week since and its still there, but its my normal skin color. what is it? why did it come up? how can i get it to go away and NEVER come back? (lol)
you quite possibly did something really, really stupid. I have my nose pierced as well, and this sounds just painful. what kind of needle was it? what gauge? was it a hollow needle? if it wasnt a hollow needle then it probably will get infected because a hollow needle pushes some cartilage out to make room for a ring, a regular needle, however, does not push any skin out, so it could get infected MUCH more easily. Also, a nose piercing should heal for 6 weeks before you change the ring, you may not have waited long enough. A blood blister is bad news, and if there's puss that means infection.
You are NOT supposed to clean piercings with rubbing alcahol, that is very harsh and your piercing WONT heal, a nose ring should be cleaned with antibacterial soap ONLY, i cannot stress this enough. Not hydrogen peroxide, either, because it eats tissue and wont allow it to heal.
Wash the nose ring once or twice a day with antibacterial soap and a qtip, DONT mess with it, and only touch it with clean hands. If it doesn't start to clear in a week, take it out because infected piercings actually CAN be potentially dangerous
