My 17 month old son has been diagnosed w/ Hypotonia, Reflux and today they detected a heart murmur?
He has been diagnosed with central hypotonia, reflux, tranchemalacia, recurrent ear infections & sinus infections (strep 2x's), sensory seeking behaviors (but is social), reflux, has had two febrile seizures (although his Temperature was 100.4) and today they detected a heart murmur. His low tone affects his speech as he is does not have any expressive language. Although intermittently will babble here and there..progress. It also affects his milestones as he is just starting to walk a good sign. Through Early On they refer to him as having Cerebral Palsy and that is not a diagnosis we have heard from his neurologist. Anyone w/ any advice or similar situation willing to share information or their story we greatly appreciate it.
Wow you have your plate full. My daughter has had a few medical issues since she was born, 2 open heart surgeries, scoliosis and has to wear a brace, a lazy eye and wears glasses, has DiGeorge syndrome and chronic pneumonia. She is now seven and doing good. Some things I've learned over the years are: things will get better, doctors are not always right, go with your gut instinct, and no you are not alone. Sometimes it feels like life can be so unfair, but I believe you are never given more than you can handle. Some people I know could not have handled what we went through. You have to take each medical issue one at a time. I look back at years past and wish then I would have known she is much better off today. Do lots of research about each diagnosis. I feel much better when I understand the condition and can face it head on. But don't let all the statistics get you down. If you think of your child as a statistic, you will lose hope. I hope I don't sound like I'm preaching to you cause I don't mean too. I have just been through a lot, but now I can breathe, for my daughter has made me stronger and smarter. I hope this helps even a little.
